Shanghai, March 2018, the UK’s Department for International Trade in China invited 8 leading British-style schools to meet with the media in Shanghai to showcase the distinct features of the fusion education provided by British-style schools in China.

2018年3月12日，上海英国驻华使领馆的国际贸易部教育与技能司邀请8所在上海有影响力的中英合作学校与当地媒体见面，展示中英融合教育的特色。

Gail. C. Denham, Executive Principal of Shanghai Concord Bilingual School, was invited to attend. She gave a unique view of the complementary advantages of Chinese and British education, on the integrated development and construction of the curriculum system, the professional development of teachers, the importance of the welfare of the child and the significance family-school relationships. Questions were then taken from the media.

Education has always been a crucial part of the UK-China relationship. Education was one of the major focuses during UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s visit to China in early 2018, with £550 million of education commercials deals announced, in areas of British-style schools and kindergartens, education technology, higher education, as well as technical/vocational education and training. Among all these deals, 15 projects were collaborations between UK schools/kindergartens and their Chinese partners, with the goal of setting up foreign-passport-holder schools and private bilingual schools in China.

教育一直都是中英两国双边关系中的一个关键领域。2018年初英国首相特雷莎•梅访华期间着重强调了英中的教育合作，宣布了由英国国际贸易部领衔促成的总值超过5.5亿英镑的中英教育合作项目，涉及高教、职教、教育科技、幼教、国际学校等众多领域。其中，有15个项目是英国学校及幼儿园即将在华开展的教育合作，他们将与中国的合作伙伴携手建立外国人员子女或者民办双语学校。

The UK has a rich heritage in education and learning, stretching back over many centuries. Currently, there are over 6,000 British-style schools across the globe, bringing many benefits.

For the existing and future British-style schools in China, it is not simply the case of exporting UK school brand or curriculum to China, but effective integration of both countries’ strength in pedagogy and education philosophy to offer Chinese students the kind of education that not only fits the Chinese national curriculum framework as well as Chinese laws and regulations, but also reflects the strength and heritage of the UK education.  British-style schools in China strive to achieve the goal of producing future innovative global citizens with an international vision, and a deep understanding of both Chinese and Western cultures.

中国和英国的学校教育有很多相通之处，但又各有所长。这些现行或即将在华开办的英式学校并不是简单地将英国学校的品牌或者课程输出到中国，而是在中国教育部门对于课程以及学校管理规定的基础上，汲取中英两国的教学法和教育理念之所长并进行有效的融合，致力于将学生培养成学贯中西、具备全球视野、创新精神的世界公民。
